Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 1/2 cups flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Let's do it!
In a bowl mix water with sugar and dry yeast,
Wait few minutes and add it to mixing bowl with flour, salt, oil, and baking powder, mix 10 minutes.
Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, turn it over to coat, and cover with plastic wrap.
Allow rise until double in size, about 1 1/2 hours.
Punch the dough down, divide it into 8 pieces, and gather each piece into a ball. Cover it and wait for 10 minutes.
Roll each dough ball into an 8-inches circle in diameter and 1/4-inch thick. Let it rise for 30 minutes.
Use a nonstick pan, heat it when the pan is hot reduce the hit to medium, place one pita, wait 30 seconds and flip it over, wait 30 seconds more and flip it again, now wait one minute and flip it again, it will puff up like a balloon.
Wrap the pitas in a large kitchen towel to keep them soft.
